  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade

    The Berlin Blockade was an attempt by the Soviet Union to limit, France, US, UK to travel to their parts of Berlin(East Germany). As a result of the Berlin Blockade, West Germany ran out of food and supplies. The Berlin Blockade was broken when huge US and British aircrafts went to supply food and supplies to over 2 million West Berlin citizens.

    The Korean War was a key milestone in the Cold War as it was the first time USA and Soviet Union fought a proxy war in a third country
  • USA exploded first Hydrogen Bomb

    USA exploded first Hydrogen Bomb

    The explosion of the Hydrogen bomb was significant for the US in the Cold War as it gave them an advantage in the nuclear arms race against the Soviet Union.

    The Warsaw Pact was mainly formed by the Soviet Union as a defense from an US attack and was created as a response to NATO. The Warsaw Pact was also an attempt to bring peace.

    The crisis started when the Hungary citizens started revolting against the Soviet Union policies. The crisis also damaged US´s friendship with France and UK.

    The USSR launched the first artificial satellite named Sputnik into space. This gave USSR a huge lead in the space race against the US.

    USA were concerned that Vietnam would also fall under communism. Therefore, US supplied Vietnam with, medicine, military supplies and food.

    Both the countries confronted each other with nuclear weapon threats and almost started a nuclear war between Soviet Union and USA.

  • USA boost their resources sent to Vietnam

    More than half a million US soldiers were sent to fight in the Vietnam War. They also invested over 1 billion dollar on military aid for Vietnam.
  • Landing on the Moon

    Landing on the Moon

    USA launched Apollo 11 with a goal of Landing on the moon. The mission turned out to be successful as Neil Armstrong became the first human to step on the moon. This was a comeback by the US after the launch of Sputnik.

    After facing public pressure President Nixon made a decision to call back the remaining US soldiers. 58,000 US soldiers died while combating in the Vietnam War.
