Huck Finn introduces himself and Mark Twain. Huck has a large fortune because he and Tom Sawyer had found a robbers gold stash. He describes his stuggle with Miss Watson and her rigid beliefs that religion can punish -- she aggressively tries to get Huck to be religious. Widow Douglas is softer with Huck and tries to civilize Huck. Huck meets Tom Sawyer at the end of the chapter at night -
