Medal of honor

How I got my Medal of Honor

  • Decisions were made

    Decisions were made
The year was 1941 and the weather was perfect. I had been unemployed for a few years when I decided that I wanted to join the military. I talked to my father about it, and he told me not to dishonor my country and most importantly...not to dishonor my family. "Yes, Sir. Goodbye," were my last words before I left the house to fight for my country.
  • Deployed to France

    Deployed to France
After weeks of torturous training camp, I was deployed to Eastern France. At the time France was extremely occupied by Germany. It was a very dangerous to be in at the time. However, I knew if I was going to die, France was going to be a nice place to do so. I wasn't going to let the fear of death stop me from completing my duties on the battlefield.
  • Saving Friendlies

    Saving Friendlies
My first mission was to help out a Texan unit that was pinned down inside of a small apartment complex. They were surroned by German soldiers, no armour, just soldiers. We decided it would be best to enter from the high ground so we could get a better look at what we were up against. It wasn't good. There were six men in my squad, we counted thirty Germans. The odds weren't in our favor.
  • Getting to the Texans

    Getting to the Texans
After a half hour of scouting, we decided it would be best that we entered through the back where there were only a few German soldiers. We entered the apartment complex. We took out four German soldiers with only our blades to make sure we were still hidden from the enemy. "Great," I though as we entered the complex, "we have the Texans. Now what?"
  • Getting them to saftey

    Getting them to saftey
We reached the Texan unit and discussed how we were going to get out. The Texans were extremely dissapointed that we were only infantry and had no armour with us, but we had to make do. The Texans were crazy people, they left the building guns a-blazing. We were quick to follow, but we were still out numbered around 4-1. Many shots were fired, but I heard one in particular that scared the mess out of me. A loud !BANG!, and I fell on my butt. I didn't feel much pain, But I sure was shocked.

Getting Them To Saftey Part 2
"Wow, this is what it feels like to get shot!" I though to myself as I lay on the ground. I could still move my arms and legs, so I picked up my weapon and picked off a few more Germans before I got back on my feet. The unit had cleared the area of Germans while I was down, no more, we had won. I got on my feet and looked at where the bullet had hit. The bullet was stopped by some silver dollars in my chest pocket, I was in no real harm, or so I thought.
  • Just When We Thought We Were Safe

Just When We Thought We Were Safe
The whole unit was rejoycing at the sign of victory, but victory was far away. Walking through the woods, we saw Germans advancing to us, out numbering us 3-1. I looked death in the eye before, this time wouldn't be any different. I grabbed my weapon and took out and many soldiers as I could. My clip was empty and I had to reload. I looked up on a roof to see an RPG rocket being launched my way. It hit my arm and took it clean off. The missle, luckly, was a dud and didn't explode, saving my life
  • The Horror

    The Horror
Looking down at my torso and only seeing one arm was the worst feeling in my whole life. I snapped to reality and remembered that I still had a mission to do. I grabbed my Colt 1911 and began taking out Germans one by one. Bullets wizzing everywhere. Finally, after several hours of gunshots, I go unconsious due to the lack of blood in my body.
  • The Aftermath

    The Aftermath
I woke up in a hospital surronded by my squad mates. Oblivious to what happened after I went cold I started talking to my squad mates. They told me how I saved their lives by taking out the Germans with my sidearm. Apparantly I had taken out over a third of the soldiers, with just my handgun while leaning against a tree. Remembering what had happened to my arm, I looked to my left and a sigh of releif left my body. The doctors were able to save my arm.
  • The Reward

    The Reward
I was dressed in my uniform on a stage. I could see my mother and father in the crowd, smiling at me. The look in my father's face, I could just tell how proud he was. The sound of a deep, excited voice filled my ears and pulled me back into reality. "Now for the courage and sacrafice Mr. Park here has put up, I am more than happy to present him with this Medal of Honor. Your country, your family, your squad, and I thank you for everything you've done back in France. God bless you, Mr. Park,"

    The Reward part 2
said the general. I looked him in the eyes and shook his hand. The crowd let out a rowr of cheering as I placed the medal around my neck. I stood up straight, faced the crowd, thanked everyone for supporting me, waved goodbye, and left the stage. I have never been more proud of myself ever before. After the celebration was over, I had dinner with my family. Mother had cooked a pork roast, and some fresh bread. We said grace and began to eat. I could tell that I have made my father proud.
