    Natives

    Natives
    The Natives were the first on the land and when the colonists came, the Natives saw them as different but they wanted to trade. The colonists had more education then the Natives and the colonists thought of themselves as better. The colonists ended up fighting the Natives and there were many casualties on both sides.
  • Roanoke

    Roanoke
    The town of Roanoke was founded twice. John White was the governor. White left for three years and when he came back, the word Croatoan was carved in a tree. There were many speculations but most people thought the town was murdered by the Native Americans. People thought differently of the Natives after this event.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    Bacon's Rebellion
    The Governor of Virginia, William Berkley. He favored the wealthy class over the poor. He advanced favorites to high public officials and he monopolized the beaver trade with the Native Americans. When the settlers went to war with the Natives, it drove Berkley out since he was a pro Native American. This was a wake up call for the government people.
  • Competition

    The North American colonies were something that everyone wanted to get their hands on. The British fought a series of wars against the French with their Native American allies. The colonists were not happy with Britain and this caused great turmoil in the colonies.
  • Winning over the Natives

    Britain needed to drive out France from the colonies. In order to do this, they would need to get rid of their greatest ally, the Natives. Britain and France would both give the Natives gifts. The Natives would lose if one empire took full control, the Natives tried to stay away from that outcome.
  • Beginning of the Fall of Natives

    British colonists heavily out numbered French colonists with 1.5 million on the British side to just 70,000 on the French. With Britain in command, the Natives were treated harshly and settlers would take their land without a care in the world or anyone on the British side to stop them.

    The American colonists enjoyed the protection from Britain and they barely had to pay any of the cost. They also profited in trade from the British Empire and gained rights that the colonists had as British citizens.

    Even though most colonists came from Britain, the political side of the colonists varied from Britain in many ways. The colonists had formal legal documents while the British did not. In addition, two thirds of free colonial men owned enough property to qualify to vote, compared to less than a fourth of British men. The colonies were turning into their own place.

    Colonial merchants were getting rich from trading, and they were often smuggling and bribing to avoid taxes. This got the smuggling rate down and trade became more fair and even within the colonies.

    The United States was at one of the darkest times in its history. They were in the middle of the American Revolution and there needed to be an end. John Adams made this possible, he helped sign the Treaty of Paris which ended the American Revolution.

    Samuel Slater revolutionized the working industry, he made everything faster and was a good example for our power in today's world.

    John Adams's election is the most controversial election of all time. The tie could not be broken and much was needed for it to be broke. This changed the voting scene and made the election more legitimate.

    John Adams started the political party ways we know today. He was the first president to be in a political party and he completely changed the presidential election scene.

    The United States was changing for the better. Roads were opening, goods were being easily made, and more jobs were opening up. This truly was a step in the right direction.

    New Methods of Production
    To improve efficiency, manufacturers designed interchangeable parts. Under Whitney’s system, a part that would work in one musket would work in another musket. In other words, the parts would be interchangeable.

    The country was in a large amount of debt when Jefferson came into office and it was not looking good. Jefferson made it possible to go from 80 million in debt to just 57 million in debt.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The purchase doubled the United States and it was a big step in the United States becoming what it is today.

    Louis and Clark Expedition
    Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase and needed it to be explored. Jefferson used his great mind to plan an expedition and it worked out greatly. They gained so much knowledge from the expedition.

    Francis Lowell would look at England's factories and take secret notes on them to transform the U.S's factories. Lowell built the first mill in Boston which changed the speed of manufacturing cloth. He changed the market forever.
  • Morse Communication

    Morse Communication
    Samuel Morse invented an electric telegraph, which allowed electrical pulses to travel long distances along metal wires as coded signals. People could now easily communicate at long distances and people would no longer have to be close to communicate.
