  • First Memory

The first memory I have is of me my biological father and mother at SeaWorld. He is holding me and I am staring at this lady who is smoking in line behind us. This moment is so special to me because it is my oldest memory and come to find out, I was two years old.
  • Lathezia Arrived

    Lathezia Arrived
My first sibling was born and I remember I loved her even though they say I was jealous of her. I just liked having someone to play with. She is so mature for her age, independent, responsible and is always building something. In a way, I look up to her.
  • Parents Got Divorced

My mom and biological father had a toxic relationship that needed to end so they broke it off finally when I was about four. At the time I was heartbroken, but I'm thankful now in my life that I found a better father and way better lifestyle. Who knows where I would be had they never divorced?
  • First Barbie(s)!!

    First Barbie(s)!!
On my Fifth birthday, Manuel gave me my first Barbies. They were all dark skinned because he said I needed to get in touch with my black side and my favorite was Pocahontas. I loved her so much because I always thought her hair was gorgeous and her legs were so long! I also felt we had an Indian connection. Come to find out, we are different kinds of Indian.
  • First day of School!!

I do not remember much about school, but I do remember I was excited to finally be doing something with my life. I also remember loosing both of my front teeth and learning the "All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth" song at school.

Since Manuel and my mom got together, they had my baby sister Jewel together. She is their only child together although they have other kids from different marriages. Jewel is super independent, loves Anime, punk rock, skateboarding, and Karate. I have to say she is super awesome even though she grouches at us sometimes.
  • NSYNC

    NSYNC
    I Want You Back
NSync was so great back in the day. I loved them so much and all of my sisters had their men. Mari had JC and Lance and Thezia had Chris and Joey. I had only one guy which was Justin but look where he is now. I knew almost everyone of their songs and was just starstruck as a kid. They are my first obsession, I still love them to this day.
  • Mom Remarried Immanuel

My dad proposed to Mama on Valentine's Day through a card, and they finally conjoined our families together on the fourth of July. We already felt like a family because we have been together for such a long time so marriage did not really phase anything. I love my family to death do us part.
  • My Bestest Nigerian Princess

    My Bestest Nigerian Princess
I met Adenike when I was nine or ten. It's hard to remember, but I do know that we have grown together and shared some of the toughest moments. My family is hers vise versa. I love her and pray we remain sisters to the end and through the new beginning.
  • Baptized

    Baptized
I Can Only ImagineI was so excited to be baptized finally and become a member of my Mesquite SDA church. I always believed in Jesus since I was a young girl, I just felt like it was time to make the big step and fully begin to commit myself to Jesus. I know I haven't represented Him the best as I should so I just hope that I can always try harder each day and do my best to follow Christ.
  • Greiner Magnet School

    Greiner Magnet School
W.E. Greiner Exploratory ArtsI went to Greiner Middle School Magnet where I played piano and I loved it both years. I appreciated the music and the teachers were awesome. I remember doing some of the background music to a play the school came together and created called "Once Apon a Mattress."
  • I Want to Be a Teacher

I Want to Be a Teacher
I remember I was going to a Magnet fair to decide where I wanted to go to college. So I get to this booth where these people were talking about working with young children and being overall good people. There was nothing but smiles and I can tell they weren't trying to put on a show. I find myself intrigued immediately. This is where I found out what I wanted to be- a genuine person who wanted to help young people become the greatest they believed.
  • Punk Rock Phase

    Punk Rock Phase
HolidayIn middle school, the only people I found myselft connecting with were the goths and punk rockerish kids behind the school and I fell into that clique. I loved rock music, I liked to write weird random stuff on my shoes and I always tried to wear some crazy socks to stand out since we still had to wear our uniforms. I liked it for a while but soon realized they were way crazier than me in real life.
  • Hip/hop Black Phase

    Hip/hop Black Phase
I went through a huge hip hop phase trying to get in touch with my blackness.I would dress like the rest of the girls with the big plastic neon colored hoop earrings and would blast rap music on my CD player at the time on the bus or when and wherever I could. As much as I tried to fit in, I was never as bad and tough as I tried.
  • My First Job

    My First Job
this was the first job I ever had at the age of 16. Saleplace is a family owned business who specialize in Homecoming Mums and wedding decorations. Everyone here embraced me and allowed me to become a part of their family. It is located in Balch Springs, TX five minutes away from my home in Dallas. I still keep in contact and I will never forget my Saleplace family.
  • Acceptance

After many years of changing styles, appearances, and emotions, I finally have come to realize that I don't have to be in any club, clique or group of people. I am myself and I like rap, Christian, rock and any other kind of music. I have never discriminated against anyone because I like all people who are genuine. So I don't have to conform, I can just be me. I like it. :)
  • Prom!

    It's Friday
Prom is supposed to be one of the greatest nights of all high school. It is something almost every high school student looks forward to and spends tons of their or their parents money paying for. Mine was great. I had so much fun and spend the night with the best of friends. :)
  • College at UTArlington

This was the beginning of a new found freedom known as college. However, I still wasn't free at the time because I still lived at home commuting everyday. I loved Arlington. There was always so much to do and I had so much money to afford school, my car, living expenses, plus some. I learned a lot from UTA.
  • Rough Patch with Family

    Bad Day
This was the worst year in our family's history together in my opinion. My grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, my grandmother was hospitalized from stress of taking care of him, I ended up in the hospital from a bad decision on my part, and Thezia was in and out of the hospital due to mental issues we thought we would never solve. Satan thought he had us...but God is always stronger.
  • Carmen Elantra

    Carmen Elantra
Hyundai RapSince I drove long distances to school everyday, my 1998 Mazda could not keep up and kept breaking down every two months costing me all my extra money including scholarships. One day my grandma called me and told me she bought me a brand new car. I was so happy I cried because this had been an answer to my prayers. I still love this car to this day and I thank God for this blessing.
  • Broken Friendships

I went through a really hard time this year and made some mistakes that were detrimental to my health physically, mentally, and spiritually. I had to cut off friendships that were five years old. I thought we were going to be buds for life, but not in this life at least. I had to choose between my family and friends and I believe I made the right chose.
  • I AM at SWAU

    I AM at SWAU
I thank God that I came to SWAU. I met some really great teachers who will actually work with students and some awesome friends. I can also be myself spiritually when I am here. I don't have to worry about someone judging me for my believes and I can speak freely about Jesus Christ.
  • Monkey Bread

    Monkey Bread
The first time I had Monkey Bread is when I went to Sweet Peppas down the street in Keene, TX. This opened my eyes. I love Monkey Bread. It is so sugary sweet and cinnamon is crusted around this pastry. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven. I absolutely love Monkey Bread and ask for it everytime I am there.
  • My Kitty Sammy!!

    My Kitty Sammy!!
    Cute Cats
Sammy is my first animal that I get to keep and take responsibility for. Whenever I move out, he is going with me. He is a Siamese mix and he is unusually loving. He has so many different voices one would think there was more than one cat. He can also be mischievious, by play fighting and jumping on the blinds. I love his fluffy white tail.
