    William Talk to Teachers

    William James released the first psychology textbook. After he gave a series of lectures called “Talks to Teachers” where he urged teachers to incorporate psychology in their educational studies. He highlighted the importance of observing an actual class to be able to learn effectively.
  • First educational psych lab

    First educational psych lab

    The first major educational psychology laboratory was established in the United States. This laboratory taught kids to learn by doing things and has them connect learning to the real life world. Started as the model for student centered teaching and has paved the way until today.
  • IQ Test Bias

    IQ Test Bias

    George Sanchez researched and found that standard intelligence tests were biased against minority children. This showed that the minority students were not being tested to their full abilities. Therefore this advocated for there to be a more fair chance for minority students.
  • The Clarks "Doll Tests"

    The Clarks "Doll Tests"

    Mamie and Kenneth Clark “doll tests”, was a research that showed how segregation can damage students confidence and self love. This was helpful as evidence in the case Brown v. Board. It was helpful because it showed how separate but equal is not fair.

    The cognitive revolution involves psychology into the role of teaching and learning. Taking into account students' memory and attention started to become an important role in teaching.     PARC v. Pennsylvania

    PARC v. Pennsylvania is a case that said children with intellectual disabilities can not be denied public school education. This case has to do with that mainstreaming is what the students deserve and each should have equal opportunities to learn. This also allows for them to get support within their learning experience.     Rehabilitation Act

    Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act civil rights stops discrimination in public schools and other federally funded programs. This helps students with accommodations and allows for equality in schools. This includes more diversity into classrooms to create a space where everyone is welcome.
  • Education Handicap Child Act

    Education Handicap Child Act

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act aimed to make education less restrictive to disabled students. Advocated for handicap students to be included in activities with non disabled students. It changed special education to be more inclusive overall.

    Comm Core State Sta Init

    Common Core State Standards Initiative set the expectations of K-12 content in language arts and math. It was set for the content to be more clear and consistent. It was also set for students to be prepared for their future jobs and careers.

    Every student Succeeds Act is a federal education law that replaced the No Child Left Behind Act. It kept some of the same measures but did allow the states to have more control.
