Muhammad and his followers started to be attacked by others so they decided to leave Mecca. They moved 2,000 miles to Yathrib, now called Medina where he got many followers. This migration is known as the Hijrah.

Muhammad led 10,000 of his followers to Mecca, where the leaders (of Mecca) were defeated and they entered the city victorious. He destroyed the Ka'aba and called people to prayer from its roof.

Muhammad died two years after claiming Mecca aged 62.

It is the earliest surviving Islamic monument. Is part of a larger complex and is Islam's third holiest place. Situated on Mount Moriah, where the Jewish Temple was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70. The rock is the point where Muhammad ascended to Heaven to learn of Allah's message.

The Qur'an was recorded between 609 to 632, or from when Muhammad was 40 to the year of his death. It is a holy book and contains the laws of Allah for Muslims to follow and it contains everything that Allah said to Muhammad. It is written in Arabic and can only be holy if it's in Arabic, which is how Arabic became the main language of Islam.
