  • Ray Tomlinson

    Ray Tomlinson developed the system to send and receive email in 1971. while arpanet was a good way to share information, he felt there needed to be a way to personalize and communicate on the network with other colleagues . he first tested his system on 2 different computers in his office, sending a message from one to another. he found that he needed a specific address host or network which led him to use the @ symbol for email
