  • The Charter of 1732

    The Charter of 1732 is a doc. This was the official doc that declared Georgia to be one of the 13 colonies. King George II granted the document to James Ogelthorpe. The 3 main reasons stated for founding Georgia was for charity, economics, and events. 2 things were prohibited in GA by the charter; slavery and alcohol. Lawyers, Catholics and Blacks were banned from Georgia by the Charter. The Charter put trustees in charge of GA. Trustees couldn't live, own land, or hold political office in GA.

  • Founding of Savannah

    Savannah was the first city founded in Georgia, James Ogelethorpe founded Savannah in 1733. He and his men arrived on the Ship Ann. Indian chief Tomochichi granted permission to Ogelethorpe and his men to land at Yamacraw Bluff. They communicated through translator Mary Musgrove.
  • Founding of Ebenezer

    A group known as the Salzburgers founded Ebenezer in 1734. The Salzburgers were kicked out of there original location and forced to move somewhere else. This is why they created, or founded Ebenezer.
  • Founding of Darien

    A group known as the Highland Scots founded Darien, GA. They were recruited to Georgia to help protect the colony from the Spanish.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    This gave land to the Native Americans and prevented the while settlers from going westward.
  • Battle of Bloody Marsh

    General James Ogelthorpe led a group in the Battle of Bloody Marsh. The Georgia Colonist were fighting the Spaniards in Florida. The colonist won victory in this battle. The Highland Scots helped towards this victory. This win is important because the Spanish never invaded GA again and we could be at peace.
  • Georgia becomes a Royal Colony

    The malcontents always complained abbout the group of trustees. They complained that they didn't have run or slaves and also because women couldn't inherit land. The governers were in charge of GA. The 3 governors were John Reynolds, Henery Ellis, and James Wright.
  • The French & Indian War

    This was a war fought between the British Colonies and the Native American indians. The British Colonies won, recieving land. This was an outcome of the start of the Revolutionary War because it raised taxed for the American Colonies because the British ruled it.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 gave land to the Native Americans. King George decided to issue land to the Indians because they were kicked out of there original land. This made the Colonist very upset, because they wanted all of the land to themselves, and to kick the Native Americans out completely.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act placed taxes on all American Colonist. It placed taxes on legal docs, newspapers, and lisence. This act was passed in order to gain money that was lost during the 7 years war. This made the Colonist very angry because taxes were only higher on them. They believed it wasn't fair.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts were passed because of the deep debt that the British was in.
  • Battle of Kettle Creek

    The U.S. were the winners of this battle fought against the Spanish. Leader Elijah Clarke led his army onto victory in this battle. Austin Dabney was the only black soldier to fight in this battle
