    Charter of 1732
The Charter of 1732 created Georgia.
King George granted it for James Oglethorpe because Oglethorpe wanted a place for English Debtors to go to, since all of them were overpopulating jails. The colony was under control of the trustees, a group of 22 people granted the job by James Oglethorpe. They had a lot of power, but had restrictions, too. They were not paid, and they were'nt allowed to own land in Georgia. They were more of a group of volunteers than that of paid officials.

  • Creation of Savannah

    Creation of Savannah
On February 12, 1733, James Oglethorpe arrived from the Ship Anne in the Yamacraw land that is now known as Savannah. Tomochichi was very freindly towards Oglethorpe, which was not the norm among Natives and Americans at that time. The Indian British alliance formed was essential in the creation of Savannah. If it weren't for Tomochichis generous agreement to let Oglethorpe land in his land, the British and Oglethorpe may have had to fought for the land that is now Savannah.
