Aborigines are the orignal inhabitants of Australia. They were the first people there and came to Australia from Southeast Asia. Have a strong cultue and beliefs. Early one were nomadic, so they moved from place to place growing, picking, and hunting. Developed ways to adapt in the Australian enviroment. No written record of them.

Dutch came to Australia first but did not settle because Aborigines put up a fight.

Captin James Cook claimed Australia for England. Cook named it New South Wales. He explored other parts as well which increased European interest. His exploration started colonization in Australia. Sailors mapped out Tasmania.

Aborigines died because of European dieases as they did in Latin America with the Spanish.

After the American Revolution Georgia could no longer be used as a penal colony, so all the prisoners were brought to Australia. Australia was a good place for them because it was away from all the other contients and outer resouces. Tasmania was the main penal,largest prison and the worst criminals where there.

Many of the aborigines where moved out to reserves and could not speak of their culture, so many today do not know about where they come from.

Many immigrants started coming to Australia. More settlement started happening as more people came and built buildings and started businesses.

Fedreral goverment passed legislation to help the Aborigines.
They increased the Aborigine's rights and so did the Aborigines. -
Australia was it's own country and didn't belong to Britain. Today it is a federal goverment and democracy with a head of goverment the prime minister and a head of state Queen Elizabeth.
