History of Advancement in Information Management Timeline

  • "Work in Process Tracking" - Placon Corp.

Realized the company was tracking material movements in the plant via MRP software (Oracle). This realization opened up the perspective needed to begin to ask the right questions.
  • SAP and ERP - Krones Inc.

My first taste with SAP and its function/capabilities. I was mainly combing through routings and material usage.
  • SAP and ERP - Saint Gobain Inc.

More extensive usage of SAP that opened up my perspective even further. The same software system not only tracked inventories, usages, labor, etc. but also managed purchase orders as well.
  • Introduction to Servers, Networks, and Databases - Miller Electric Mfg. Co.

I was part of a project team that was tasked with changing over serial number labels for welding equipment to a new standard. The new equipment had to communicate with our servers, over our internal networks, and query information from specific databases.
  • Hardware/Terminology Perspective - Miller Electric Mfg. Co.

I was tasked with multiple projects that required equipment to communicate with each other over the organizational network. Through this process I learned about swtiches, UPS, IP address, subnet masks, "pinging", POE, etc.
  • MES System Integration - Bob's Engines

A project I am involved in that requires key deliverables on the software side, hardware side, and infrastructure side. This project will use concepts in this class as well as learnings from previous experience. Database management is a crucial piece and I expect to expand my knowledge of this area throughout the process.
