    This tariff was created to protect the United States from overseas competition of manufactured items. James Madison and Henry Clay were the ones to come up with the tariff when they made the American System.

    Adams-Onis Treaty
    This treaty gained America Florida. Spain was to weak at the time to use the state Florida, so Spain signed over Florida to the US.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was about the free and slave states. There were 11 free states and 11 slave states. Congress was trying to get more free slaves because people didn't like slave states as much anymore.
  • Election of 1824

    Election of 1824
    John Quincy Adams won the election that year, even though Jackson got the most votes in both popular and electoral parts. Jackson didn't get the majority vote from the electoral college, so the house of reps. chose the winner.

    This supreme court case was about regulating interstate commerce. Congress has power over everything that crosses state lines.

    Andrew Jackson ran for president again in 1828 and won the election. He became our 7th president. He had more supporters that voted for him and he got the electoral majority vote.

    Southampton Insurrection
    This event was Nat Turner's rebellion that took place in 1831. This rebellion was about slaves, and a bunch of those slaves killed officers and others.

    The trail of tears was an event that happened in the presidency of Jackson. He forced the Indians that remained in the states to walk 2,200 miles to a new place. Many Indians died of diseases or gunned down. Over 4,000 died on this journey.
