In 1803 Thomas Jefferson the president of the United States at the time tried to make a deal to buy Louisiana from the french. They wanted to do this because of the fact it was a major part to their trade root. Instead The leader of the French Neapolitan wanted to sell the hole territory so the US bought the territory foe merely 3 cents an acre.
