On this day the United States of America was officially founded and called a country. A document titled, The Deceleration of Independence, was written by Thomas Jefferson explaining the reasoning for separating from Britain. -

This purchase was made by Thomas Jefferson from France. This new land doubles the size of America. It also allowed control of the Mississippi River. -

This journey was led by Lewis and Clark. They toured the new territory. Lewis and Clark continued on to the Pacific ocean. Their jobs were to find new species and make accurate maps. -

Thomas Jefferson forced many Native American Tribes westward. He moved many tribes including Creek. This caused a rough relationship between the whites and Natives. -

On this day the Civil War began because of a battle at Fort Sumter against the Union and Confederacy. This battled started the United States Civil war that would last 4 years. -

On this day Yellowstone National Park was founded. This parks mission is to conserve and protect species native to The United States. -
Johnstown Flood
On this day a damn broke in Johnstown PA causing a massive flood. The whole town was flooded to the top of the hills surrounding it. Most of he people living in Johnstown died because of the flood. -
First Modern Olympics
On this day the first modern Olympics was held in Athens Greece. This allowed many countries to set aside their differences and come together. -
Brown v. Board of Education
On this day an African American family fought the Board of Education (of the school Linda Brown wanted to go to) in the Supreme Court so Linda could go to school in an "All White" building. This movement later issued for segregation in schools to be illegal. -
JFK Assasination
On this day the JFK, the 35th president of The United States was murdered in Dallas Texas. His vice president then took over and finished his term. -

On this day an American rock n' roll icon died of a heart attack. Many people mourned the loss like they were related to him... -
September 9/11
On this day the two World Trade Centers (Twin Towers) and The Pentagon was attacked by terrorists using 3 hijacked commercial airplanes. A third plane landed in a Pennsylvania field. Around 3,000 Americans died on 9/11. -
