    The declartion of independance is currently located in Washington D.C. but it has faded and isnt in the best quality. It is 29-3/4 inches by 24-1/2 inches..It isnt certain who all wrote it but a lot of important people did.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    On April 30th, 1803 Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase for $15 million Dollars. It cost about 3 cents per acre. The United states grew almost two times its size. Sense no Americans really knew about the land, Jefferson had a officer and a map maker explore the land for him.

    The Lewis and Clark Journey West
    Lewis and Clark started exploring the land the summer of 1803. By the winter they reacher, St. Louis located near the Mississippi river. After staying there for the winter they started to explore the Missouri river looking for a water route. They then met a Shoshone indian names Sacagawea who helped them a lot during the journey.

    In 1831 Mary Austin Holley visited her cousin Stephen F. Austin in Texas. She didnt reside there but she made a guide of the area. In 1821 Stephen F. Austin's ather died but he made his way to Texas stadning in his fathers dream, he then led Americans to settle in the Texas area. In 1833, Austin went to Mexico CIty to show them a list of requests that he had, the most important one was that Texas became a self governing state with Mexico.

    On February 23, 1836, Santa Anna's troops surrounded San Antonio. The Alamo's held off Mexican attacks for 12 days, on the 13th day Santa Anna had 1,800 men attack them At the end of they day seven Texans were dead and 1,000 Mexicans were hurt or dead. The total number of Alamo's that died was 183.

    In 1849, James Marhsall discovered gold in California. He was building a sawmill in Northern California and found some Gold. His discovery made a huge migration and People from all over the world rushed to California to find gold.

    On September, 11th 2001 Two airplanes flew into the world trade center. Then a third plane hit the pentagon. Over thousands of people were killed. 19 terroist hijacked 4 airplanes. Septmeber 11th is also a very important date in history because it was a tradgedy.     African americans were treated different then whites were,they couldnt go on the same buses and couldnt go to the same school. In 1967, Linda brown was a 8 year old african american girl who was not granted permisson to attened a elemantary school just blocks away from her house in Topeka, Kansas.
