This day was when we won our independance from Great Britan.Thomas Jefferson was the creator and writer of the document and was written in Philedelphia. Independence Hall is where the declaration of independence was adopted. -
The Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition
The Louisiana purchase was made by President Thomas Jefferson and was bought for 15 milion dollars. Jefferson then hired Captain Merri Wether Lewis, and William Clark , a map make and outdoors man to go and explore the west, Their job was to find plants and animals unknown to Englishmen, and find Native Americans. A young girl named Sacagawea helped them throughout their whole journey. Finally in November of 1805 they reached the other side of the U.S. McDougal-Litte 345-349 -
The Texas War for Independence
In 1833 Texas was fighting for their right t e free from Mexico. There was a request that the state of Texas was to be a self-governing state within Mexico. War broke out between the two and Texas stood tall fighting for their independence. Texas won most of the many battles against Mexico. Then finally March 2nd 1836 Texas declared independence from Mexico. -
The Donner Party
During the Western Movement time thousands of people left behind their past and moved on to hopefully a better place. This one family the Donners moved out to the west. But when winter hit, they were freezing supplies have run low, and no warmth to protect them. This family was very hungry, and they were running out of time. They had no choice but to eat there own family members.This was the only recoreded time in western history when this had to happen. They are now so famous for cannibalism. -
The Mexican American War
Mexico claimed Texas as their own. But neither one could agree on where to set the borders between us and them. And because of that Mexico would fight to keep the land. Apirl 27th 1846 congress declared war against the two countries. After a long fight finally in Febuary 1848 war Seized.

The California Gold Rush
The first spot of gold was discoverd by James Marshall. Eventually when people from all over the world heard that gold was found in California territory, people came rushing in. Mexicans, Chineese, French, Itlian, Americans, and more. Everyone was desperate to find it. A Forty-niner is someone who came to Califorina to look for gold. About two thirds of the forty niners were Americans. The California Gold Rush was one of the most important events in hostory. It has changed our nation for sure. -
Attack of Forth Sumter
Fort Sumter, South Carolina was often considered where the first gun shots were that started the American Civil War. These gun fires lasted for about two days. The North and South were now at war. After the two days the fort was out of amo so the genral was forced to surrender. -
The Wright Brothers
Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was where the Wright brothers constucted the first suscessful plane. They both tried many times and failed. Then on December 17th they built another plane and they were hoping this time it would work. Wilbur won the coin toss and he was chosen to fly. It lasted 12 seconds and covering just 120 feet. The Wright brothers have changed the world that day. -
Brown VS Board of Education
This day is the day that segregation in schools was declared as unconstitutional. In this time period colered children were not allowed to attend white schools. There has been many cases about this severel times. Topeka, Kansas is where it all ended. -
The Death of Elvis Presley
Elivs was the greastest sing in history! He was known as the "King of Rock and Roll". He was born in a two room house in Tupelo, Mississippi. When later on he started his singing career, he starred in 30 films, won 3 grammys, and guest starred on many tv shows. He globaly has sold over a million records in his life time. His death was tragic for his fans. -

This was the day a baby girl was born at the Ephrata hospital. This girl was me. At the time I had two older siblings and two parents. Being born was the best day of my life., -
9/11
The day the Twin Towers (World Trade Center) in NYC fell right to the ground. Two high jacked planes crashed right into the north and south tower. Hundreds were still in the buildings while this happened. One other plane also crashed into the west side of the Pentagon in D.C. About 125 people who were still in the structure died from the collision, including the people still on board of the airplane.One more plane then crash landed in an farmers field in PA and sadly no one survived. -

Pompeii
Pompeii had a population of about 20,000 people. Mt. Vesuvius erupted on this date. Nobody knew what was going on.Then the volcano started to blow very dark smoke out of it and the ground was shaking. It errupted for about 24 hours. When the smoke got worse it was so dark no one knew if it was even still morning or night. Rocks were hitting houses .In the distance you could barley even see Pompeii anymore. That day about the whole population was wiped out.
