    The Declaration of Independence
    In the summer of June 1776, with the Revolutionary War going on, some Delegates of the Continental Congress got together. They made a document of the colonists' intentions.   • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was made between the United States and France. Napoleon made and offer to Thomas Jefferson for $15 million dollars for the Louisiana Territory. Jeferson bought the land and that addition more than doubled the size of the nation.
  • The Lewis and Clark Journey West

    The Lewis and Clark Journey West
    William Clark and Meriwether Lewis were hired by president Thomas Jefferson to explore the Louisiana Territory that the country had just bought from France. Clark made maps of the Louisiana Territory along their way and Lewis discovered 178 plants and 122 animals not known to science before. They greatky impacted the United States by discovering these things.
  • The Texas Revolution

    The Texas Revolution
    The Texas Revolution began because Texas wanted freedom from the Mexican government. They fought for over a year before Texas finally get their independence and became their own country for a while before joining the United States.
  • Mexican American War

    Mexican American War
    A Mexican unit crossed state lines and attacked an American partol just past the Rio Grande. Two days after this event, congress declared the war between America and Mexico had begun. The defeat of Mexico proved to be harder than it seemed but in the end, America won and gained the territory of Texas.
  • California Gold Rush

    California Gold Rush
    A carpenter James Marshall made the discovery that there was gold in Calfornia. Then, in 1849 people began to migrate from all over the country to the American RIver in hopes that they would find gold. The routes to get to California were hard and dangerous, but people still traveled to try and find gold.
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

  • Brown vs. the Board of Education

    A child was denied access to a white school when they were colored. Brown claimed that Topeka's racial segregation violated the Constitution's Equal Protection Clause. The court ruled in favor of Brown. (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/supremecourt/rights/landmark_brown.html)
  • Death of Elvis

    Death of Elvis
    Elvis Presely or "The King" was an American singer and actor. Elvis died due to a heart failure which was most likely caused due to his drug addiction.   • Death of Ella Fitzgerald

    Ella Fitzgerald was known as "The First Lady of Song" and was an Americna Jazz vocalist. Ella had heart problems later in life ad then discovered she had diabetes.   • September 11th 2001

    September 11th 2001
    On September 11th 2001 four planes were hijacked by people associated with the islamic group al-Qaeda. These planes were hijacked to carry out suicide attacks to different targets in the United States. Two of the planes flew into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, One crashed in a field in Pensylvania and another into the Pentagoon which is just outside Washington D.C.   • My Chemical Romance Breaks Up

    The rock band My Chemical Romance had been formed in New Jersey in 2001. The band came out with albums such as "The Black Parade" and "Danger Days". The band broke up on March 22nd, 2013 saying that "All good things musgt come to an end"
