  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These were the first shots fired for the Revolutionary War. This is significant because this was the start of the war that led to our freedom and independence. The shot was fired by the british just before sunrise and it led to a huge battle. The first shot was considered the "shot heard round the world". The American "rebels" won the battle and then more battles came after that and we then won our independence.

    This is the document that told Britain that we want to be our own country.We told them that we will be our own mighty and free nation. This is when America was its own country and in a way born. It is celebrated July 4th even though it was July 2nd. This document didn't set well with Britian and then we went to war and earned our freedom that was declared on the document. it is ironic that we gained our freedom from Britain,they weren't happy so we went to war but, now we are allies.
  • Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney and the Cotton Gin
    Eli Whitney changed the way that people pick cotton and clean it. So, Eli Whitney created a machine that changed the way people clean cotton. "A worker could clean just one pund of cotton in a day, with the new machine one worker could clean as much as 50 pounds of cotton each day." (Mcdougal-Littell, 373) This changed the amount of cotton a farmer could pick in one day and helped grow America's economy.

    This day affected the United States in many ways. There were two immediate impacts and they were, the U.S doubed in size and we gained control of the Mississippi River. These factors play a role in the future of our country in expansion and led to more of a profit out west with the new shipping port.
  • Lewis and Clark Journey

    Lewis and Clark Journey
    They were sent on a jpurney by president Jefferson who was looking for a place where they could link the Missisippi River to the Pacific Ocean. They found that it doesn't link and they found many new species and plants as they went throughout their journey. This proved also that the west was good land with an abundance food source so Americans could move there and then this kept forcing the Native Americans to move again.

    The steamboat tranfromed the way that people viewed transportation. This inventional made it possible for people to travel upstream. It also cut down the length of the journey significantly. This invention made people want to travel by water instead of land because of how fast the journey was.
  • Trail of Tears

    The "Trail of Tears" is when the Native American tribes were forced on these rough and rugged paths to move outwest. President Andrew Jackson forced the Native Americans out west because the U.S kept expanding. When thes epeople reached their destination (if they made it) then they would eventually be forced to move onto smaller land again.     "The Texas Revolution, also known as the Texas War of Independence, was the military conflict between the government of Mexico and Texas colonists." Wikipedia. In this revolution in Texas the people wanted to join America since manhy American farmers had already settled there. Texas fought against Mexico and gained its freedom from Mexico and the joined America.

    During the "Texas Revolution" The Alamo is the most famous battle in that war. It was a turning point in the war even though the people of Texas lost the battle. This ignited their spirit and helped them join together to beat the Mexaicans. Eventually Texas won their freedom and when they joined the U.S it meant the start of the Mexican American war.   • The Donner Party

    The Donner Party
    This "party" is one of many pioneers who headed out west. The thing that made these people special is they resorted to cannabolism. They ate each other during the harsh winter due to a lack of food. Only a few people survived and they share their accounts of the story and confirmed that they ate other humans.
  • Mexican-American War

    This was a war between Mexico and America. Mexico was angry at the AMericans after the Texas Revolution since Texas revolted and then won their independence and joined America. This made MExico mad and then they waged war on the Americans. This war lasted 1 and a half years and then Mexico was tired of the fighting and stopped fighting and allowed Texas to be independent.

    This is when many people from the United States moved west for land and for gold. Many people thought that all of California was full of gold. With these people moving west, this meant that the Native Americans also had to move from there land. Many thousandsof people went out west for gold and land and they weren't too pleased to find out that there were a shortage of gold out there.

    This was the beginning of the Civil War. Captin George S. James fired the first shot. It exploded and right after it did there were 4003 guns firing at that moment. They wanted to save ammuntition so they shot every two minutes. Wikipedia. It looked like something out of a movie with explosions and lots of smoke. Fort Sumpter surrendered eventually so the south had won.
  • World War 1

    On July 28th the first shots were fired by Hungaria. The main problem was Germany under Hitler's rule aTnd he wanted to rule the world. The war ended on June 28th 1919 when Germany had finally surrendered and all the other countries had also agreed. This was the first of two world wars and resulted in death for many citizens worlwide as well as in the US. The scenes of the camp were horrendous and people who saw it won't ever forget the horrifying scene.

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    Early in the morning Japan attacked the naval base at Pearl Harbor. 2,000 american soldiers died and another 1,000 were injured. Japan surprised the americans and they attacked because they were afraid we would interfere with their own plans. Wikipedia. So they bombed the location of many submarines and millitary boats and ships. This was when the US decided to join world war 2.

    In this Supreme Court case Brown accused and questioned whether segregation in schools was allowed by the constitution. This was the first major battle about racial discrimination in schools. The court ruled in favor of Brown and said based on the 14th amendment it was unconstitiutional.

    Elvis was one of the first american singers to do rock and roll music. He revolutionized music for americans forever. He was nicknamed "the king".His death cause is unknown even though there are many theries. His death didn't signify the end of rock and roll however, and his legacy still goes on.

  • 9/11

    9/11
    This is one of the most tragic days in American history. Two planes crashed into the twin towers early in the morning on september eleventh 2001. People initially thought that they wouldn't fall. However, eventually they fell over due to the planes that were hijacked. Many people died from the building falling and others jumped from there thus taking there own life. There were many heroes that risked their lives to save others and the whole country came together to support one another.
