On April 12, 1861, General P.G.T. Beauregard, opened fire on the Union garrison holding Fort Sumter. On April 13 Major Robert Anderson, garrison commander, surrendered the fort and was evacuated the next day.

The brown vs, board of education case invloved a dad who wanred to let his daughter attened the school closer to home, but that school was only for white children. But by the end of the case, nine outstanding black kids where aloowed to join the school. But the black children weren't allowed in the school and one young lady had to be brought to safety. But eventually then were allowed to attend the school.
