Harriet was born in Dorchester County, Maryland. She was born with the name Araminta and she was also born stright into slavery. Her parents were Ben Ross and Harriet Greene Ross.

At only the age of six, Harriet was put into a slavery house. She would be beaten here. She aslo suffered from hunger and being worked hard.

Harriet meets a free black man named, John Tubman. Later in life she gets married to him and also changes her name to Harriet. This will be her first marriage in life. She get remarried later in her life.

A notice is put up about escaped slaves and the reward is huge for finding them. Harriet and her borther are soon found and returned to their owners.

Harriet asks for help to escape using the underground railroad. She succeeds to the north along with the others she freed. She will eventually help hundreds of slaves escape.

Harriet and her brother both escape from slavery for the first time. The chances of them being returned are average since there isn't any fugative slave act yet.

The Fugative Slave Act is put in place. Harriet's risk of being caught are high. Also the slaves chances are high. If she were brought back to slavery the beatings and harsh punisments would be horrible.

Harriet goes back using the Underground Railroad several times. When she goes back for a second time she tries to rescue her brother, brother-in-law, sister, mother, father, and her two children along with hundres more and succeeds.

Harriet meets John Brown an abolitionist and Senator Wiliam H. Seward. He sells Tubman to a farm on the outskirts of Auburn, New York. She wil live here for several years till the Civil War starts.

Lincoln is elected President and the Civil War starts. Harriet travels toTroy, New York where she meets Charles Nalle She takes her last journey to Maryland to rescue more slaves.

The 13th Amendment is passed after the Civil War ends. This abolishes slavery all throughout the United States. Lincoln is assiasinated soon after the war ends.

The 14th Amendment grants citizenship to former slaves. Even though they are granted citizenship they wont be treated equal. They will struggle with rights for another 100 years

Harriet remarries after she finds out John was cheating. The 15th amendment is passed stating that you cant be prohibited to vote because of your race. 1869- 70

Harriet and Nelson adopt a baby girl named Gertie. This is Harriets only child that is recorded becasue if she had any other kids they would have been born enslaved.

Harriet died from pneumonia. Harriet was buried with military honors at Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn.
