This act was passed by John Adams stating that immigrants had to wait 14 years instead of 5 to achive naturalization. -
Sedition Act
This act was passed by John Adams stating that anyone who criticized the government was to be arrested.This law was scrutinized and demmed unconstitutuional by many people. -
Election of Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson is elected as the 3rd president. This was a peace transfer of power from parties. Thomas Jefferson established the embargo act and bought the louisiana purchase. -
Marbury Vs. Madison
This was an 1803 courtcase with William Marbury versus James Madison over the dispute of the 'Midnight Judes'. Marbury believed he should've gotten his position as the the Justice of the Peace, but Madison did not, because he said that the Federalist party was trying to take over the government. It ended in favor to Madison, but the chief justice said he should've gotten his position.This case also establishe d the rule of judicial review. -
Lewis & Clark Expedition
Meriwether Lewis and Willian Clark were sent across the Louisiana purchase to investigate the land and see if it was worth colonizing, They went all the way across the coutry. -
Non-Intercourse Act
This act was passed in replacement of the Embargo Act.This act, instead of banning ALL trade, it only banned trade with France and Britian. This affected the United State's economy for the better. -
