Graduating Project
-
Tried Google sites
I started to build a website using Google sites. This became a very big job and I decided to revamp my wordpress site instead. I did not want to lose the science material I had created, so I added additional pages. -
First Writing
I have a main idea and four questions. One question is written in detail. I have found what I think are some relvant readings for all of the questions. -
Wiki Space Created
I have a wiki space that I can use with my class for an online discussion space -
Wiki Tutorial Created
Harpal & I have created a tutorial for the students to learn how to use the wiki space. -
Website Updated
The website has been changed from what I used with my science class. it now contains the necessary materials for my planning class to begin. -
Website Introduced to the students
Students begin the planning class. Unfortunately, the computer lab is not yet available so we are working in a regualr classroom. -
In the Computer Lab!
Students can now work online every class. We are using the computers daily. There is a steep learning curve to using the website which I had not anticipated. -
Week 3 WIKI post
I have made a page with clear directions. Students are reluctant to try posting. -
First Student WIKI post!
Students finally make a post on the WIKI. Adoption of this site is very slow. Not all students are readily particpating. The students are not following the directions for posting. -
Timeline Created
I typed a very general timeline in word. Stephan recommended that we create a timeline. -
Change in assessment to encourage WIKI use
Because of sparse use, I have assigned a mark to each WIKI post. I did not want to do this, as it goes against what I believe to be formative assessment but I want students to use the WIKI. It worked, they all posted in week 3! -
Revised wordpress site
The dropdown menus on my wordpress site are difficult to work with. Unfortunately, this is due to the theme I chose. I am not willing to change the theme at this point in my project. I chose to revamp my website, breaking the planning class into two pages. I will revisit my website and change the theme after the planning class is complete, in preparation for the next time I teach it. -
Change in page names
I stopped using "week" in my page title. I prefer the more descriptive name. It makes it easier to discuss the posts in class and the week is not really important. -
More Reasearch & reading
I went back to the web to find more readings related to my research project. -
Tried EasyBib
I want to use a program for my sources. I am having great difficulty with refworks. I tried EasyBib today. Jeff mentioned this site this past semester. -
Timeline entered into timetoast
