  • Summer Trees

    Summer Trees
This piece is seen as an abstract work of art but the title is depicting the natural world. I find this piece very interesting because it looks very modern but it is heavily based off of the traditional in Chinese work. It is similar to the traditions of the work Six Gentlemen. I enjoy this piece because it looks so modern with the muted grays but it has a deeper rooted connection to past culture.
  • Pink Panther

    Pink Panther
This sculpture is highly polished and glistening. This is associated with inexpensive artwork. I like this artwork because it is something like we have not seen the far in the course. This is showing the power of postmodernism in art. This work tends to be factory made but it does not take away from the fun of it.
  • A Book from the Sky

    A Book from the Sky
Pages and pages are surrounding the viewer as the walls and floors and ceiling all have Chinese characters. The meaning to Chinese and english speakers are both not sure of what it says because interesting, the creator created his own characters that don't necessarily mean anything. The artist was put to work to combine modern and tradition forms of calligraphy and I think this work is so interesting because its so overwhelming in a beautiful way.
  • Rebellious Silence

    Rebellious Silence
This is representational of the oppression muslim women face in society. This is a very moving piece that one can look at and immediatly find meaning in it. The black color with a white background provides a sharp view of the photograph. I find it interesting how yes, one can look at it and find meaning but behind that is a much more complex one.
  • En la barber no se llora

En la barber no se llora
This means no crying in the barber shop. It was created by a social worker and eat work is inspired by experiences rooted in the places. This is said to involve the main theme of masculinity which is explained through the symbols. I like how the artist used his experiences to create art and that he engaged the public through conversation, workshops and collaborations.
