    Mississippian Indians

    The Mississippian Indians were people who inhabited Georgia from 800 to around 1600 AD. They were a very advanced group for their time, they knew how to create weapons out of stones, wood, and bone. There were many more and there might have been more if Europeans didn't arrive killing out most of the Indian population.

    Oglethorpe Arrives

    Oglethorpe Arrives
    Whenever Oglethorpe arrived he had planned on getting land in what is known at Savannah today, but the Creek Indians already lived there. Oglethorpe made a deal with the chief, Tomochichi, that if he tried to teach their children, and more would they let them have the land, which Tomochichi agreed to.

    Hernando De Soto
    Hernando De Soto was a spanish conquistador who came to Georgia in search of gold. While he was searching for it in many other places he killed thousands of natives a long the way, killing most.

    Charter of 1732
    The charter was like a set of rules for the colony to follow, it had three purposes, charity, economics, and defense. The main 'no' rules were, NO rum, NO slaves, NO lawyers, and NO land ownership.

    Salzburgers Arrive
    The Salzburgers were kicked out of Austria for not converting into Catholics. The Salzburgers came to Georgia for the purpose of religious freedom and a place to live.

    Highland Scots Arrive
    The Highland Scots were chosen to come to Georgia to help protect the colony from the Spanish in Florida in case they attacked them. The Highland Scots had soldiers who were strong, and unafraid.

    The American Revolution was a war being fought between the British and the 13 colonies, who wanted independence against Britain. The French entered the war later on.

    Kettle creek had many things that happened over the course of The American Revolution, one of the most memorable, and important though, was the battle on the fourteenth of February.

    This was an event that took place to decide how our small America, at the moment, was going to be governed. Rather than fix the old government, they decided at this event to create a brand new, more improved government.

    Georgia Ratifies Consitution
    January 2, 1788 was the day Georgia helped ratify the constitution. The ratification was apparently very short and more to the point than most.
  • Austin Dabney

    Austin Dabney
    Austin Dabney was a slave who was originally born in North Carolina but left due to Georgia due to his master moving. He fought in the battle of Kettle Creek, which he was granted a lot of land for his service in the revolution.
