    The Mississippian Indians were the most advanced civilization. They stayed in one place (villages) due to advanced agriculture. These Indians had first contact with Europeans.

    Hernando de Soto
    Hernando de Soto was a Spanish conquistador. He was the first European to explorer what is currently known as Georgia. He also played a part in the conquest of the Incas.
  • Charter of 1732

    Charter of 1732
    The Charter of 1732 was issued by King George. The main purpose of the act was to be a buffer for South Carolina.
  • Oglethorpe Arrives

    Oglethorpe Arrives
    Oglethorpe first arrived at a small settlement of the Yamacraw Indians. Tomochichi was the chief of the Yamacraw Indians and him and James worked together and gave each other advice.
  • Salzburgers Arrive

    Salzburgers Arrive
    They were kicked out of Europe for not being Catholic. Oglethorpe gave them land in Georgia to live off of.

    Highland Scots Arrive
    Chosen to come to Georgia from the Highlands of Scotland and were very tough and unafraid. They came to Georgia to help protect the colony in case the Spanish in Florida were to attack.

    The American Revolution was a political battle. The American colonists wished to create a new sovereign nation- the United States.
  • Battle of Kettle Creek

    Battle of Kettle Creek
    Several events happened at Kettle Creek. The most important one however, is the Battle of Kettle Creek. 600 American supporters of the British made camp on top of a hill in a bend of the creek.

    Georgia Ratifies Constitution
    This event took place in Augusta. Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the new U.S. Constitution.

    Austin Dabney was a slave in Wake county North Carolina. He fought against the British in the American Revolutionary War.
