    He was the first European to inhabit what is now Georgia. Hernando de Soto became vary wealthy after the conquest of the Incas in Peru. He also conquered the Mississippians.

    James Oglethorpe and the trustees established the colony Georgia. The new colony would consist of the headwaters Savannah and the Altamaha. King George 2 granted James and the trustees to colonies Georgia.

    The battle of kettle creek was a major encounter in the back country of Georgia. The battle was located 8 miles form present day Washington Georgia.
