    Virginia becomes the 10th of 14 states that ratified the amendment. Washington signs the Bill of Rights.

    The official announcement issued by President George Washington declaring the United States a neutral nation in the conflict between Great Britain and France.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Washington organized a militia force of 12,950 men and led them towards Western Pennsylvania. He sent all the farmers home and settled the rebellion down.
