The war was between the communist North Korea and the government of Southern Vietnam. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union and South Korea was supported by the Unites States. The United States got involved in the war because of containment. A person named John Hinckley Jr. shot President Ronald Reagan in the chest outside Washington D.C. The President had just finished addressing a labor meeting when Hinckley shot the president with a .22 revolver standing 10 feet away. -
Little Rock 9
One of the high schools that blacks were not allowed to attend was Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Daisy Bates recruited nine African-American high school students to study at Central High. The Central High students did not react well and told them to go away. After hearing this, President Dwight Eisenhower sent the U.S army to protect the students.
