    The war was between the communist North Korea and the government of Southern Vietnam. North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union and South Korea was supported by the Unites States. The United States got involved in the war because of containment.     After WW2, both the Unites States and the Soviet Unions wanted to do rocket research for military reasons. Soon the rivals found themselves in a competition for technological superiority. The Russians released Sputnik 1 in order to be ahead of the race, but then the U.S moon landing ended the space race.

Daisy Bates recruited nine African-American high school students to study at Central High. The Central High students did not react well and told them to go away. After hearing this, President Dwight Eisenhower sent the U.S army to protect the students.
