    Proclomation of Neutrality
    The proclomation of neutrality was announced in April, 1793. It demanded that citizens of the United States stay strictly neutral while Great Britian and France.   • Alien and Sedition Acts

    Alien and Sedition Acts
    Four bills signed by President John Adams. Happened around 1798, no specific month was identified. It restricted any criticism againt the government. This act required a foreigner had to be 14 years a resident before they could be a citizen. It strengthened the security of the nation.   • War with Tripoli

    War with Tripoli
    Barbary states required money from U.S. ships travelling through the Mediterranian Sea. Tripolitans (located in Libya) declared war with U.S. The United States sent warships through the meditarranian and to Libya. They went through four years of war until they signed a peace treaty.   • Lousiana Purchase

    Lousiana Purchase
    Thomas Jefferson bought some land from France. This 828,000 square miles of land was called the Lousiana Purchase. The United States bought all of this land for about $15M. This land included North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas. Jefferson sent William Clark and Meriwhether Lewis to explore the Louisiana territory.   • Battle of Tippecanoe

    Battle of Tippecanoe
    This battle of Tippecanoe happened when the U.S. pushed Nativa men to stop hunting and adapt the same lifestyle as American farmers. Indians were pushed off the land in 1811. European American settlers settled where the Native men were pushed off their land (which is Ohio, present day). The Indians rights to their own land became invalid.   • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    In 1823 the important colonies in Latin America gained independence from Europe. Powerful monarchies in England threatened the U.S. government. President James Monroe issued the Monroe Doctrine.     Tariff of Abomination
    In 1824 taxes made foriegn goods more expensive for people to buy. Taxes were for the protection of factories. The Southern side of the U.S. ended up paying more taxes than any other.
