Thomas Jefferson sent two explorers out Lewis and Clark who explored the west from the land they had bought.(Louisiana Purchase) They started in St. Louis Missouri and explored a lot of land making friends on their way. They brought Jefferson two bear cubs back to the white house. -
James Madison was inaugurated president.
James Madison was very smart and keeping the US from backing the French or British when they were in war because we were to weak to help. -
The War of 1812
The War of 1812 was a two and a half long year war. It is controversial who won the war but it was kind of a tie. The Treaty of Ghent ended the War. -
White House burns down.
The white house was burnt to the ground during the War of 1812. Madison was in office at the time. It was done being rebuilt in 1822. -
Andrew Jackson became president.
Andrew Jackson is known well for forcefully moving the Indians out of their own land. Many of them died on their journey west. -
Arkansas becomes a new US state.
Arkansas was the 25th state added to the United States. Arkansas was first kind of a new territory but then it got added as a slave state. Later Arkansas would separate from the Union and help the Confederates. -
William Henry Harrison is the president.
William Henry Harrison was the 9th president and he was only in the white house for a month then died. He was the first president to die in office. -
John Tyler is president.
John Tyler had a clash with the Whigs. (they were a political party, their picture was an owl) The Whigs tried to have him impeached but failed. John Tyler was vice president when William Henry Harrison died in office so he became the president.
