The population in America increased greatly over the fifty year time span. From 1800 it was about 5300 and by 1850 it was about 23,000. And why that increase happened was because of the rapid expansion of the united states (more immigrants came to the United States.) -

One of his major contributions during his time as president is that he played a major role in the ratification of the constitution by him writing the federalists papers (giving him his nickname.) -

The war of 1812 was started because the British put restrictions on the united states trade and the US wanted to expand their territory into Indian,British and Spanish territories. Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson served as the seventh president of the United States. Jackson during his presidency succeeded in making the country debt free for the first and only time during the US's history and it stayed that way from 1835 to 1837. But even though he did do some good things he also forced Native Americans out of their homes causing injuries and deaths from infants to old men and women. He was nicknamed "old hickory". -

The Underground Railroad was a network for slaves stated by Harriet Tubman. Tubman began this work sometime around 1831 and is said to have freed over one hundred thousand slaves from slavery. The Underground Railroad was used from around the 1830s until about 1865. -
Martin Van Buren
Martin Van Buren served as the eighth president of the United States. He did not have a good presidency because during Buren's term he had to deal with The Panic of 1837 and controversies in Texas. Buren was blamed for a lot of things and a lot of the things he was blamed for were not even necessarily his fault. He only served one term and is considered one of the worst presidents in the United States history. -

William Henry Harrison was the ninth president of the United States. He was often criticized by the public for his age. People would say that he was too old to be president and he felt a need to prove them wrong. The day of his inauguration he made a speech outside in the cold and he got sick. The Gold Rush
The gold rush started when James W. Marshall founded some gold nuggets in Coloma California. This brought around 300,000 Americans and immigrants over to California in search of more of the gold Marshall found. About two billion dollars worth of gold was found in California during the gold rush.
