  • 1889

    In 1889 sir Henry Parkes at the time was premier of new south wales and wishes for all the colonies for federation to occur
  • 1891

    The very first nationwide Australasian agreement was held at Sydney and draft an establishment
  • 1891-94

    Financial depression occurs making the colonial parliaments lose interest in the idea of federation
  • 1893

    Everyone gathered in Corowa, new south wales and hopes that the colonial parliaments will hold a new convention to think about the draft constitution
  • 1895

    At an important leader meeting of the colonies occurred and in the meeting everyone agrees there to be a new federation agreement
  • 1897

    The Australasian Federal Convention was first held in Adelaide
  • 1899

    Agreement was reached to amend the Constitution Bill.
    Women in WA gained the right to vote.
    Troops were sent to the Boer War in South Africa
  • 1903

    The woman in the colonies were finally able to vote for the first time
  • 1909

    The Australian currency is introduced
  • 1913

    Canberra is chosen to be the capital of Australia
