    England forward Trevor Francis signed for Brian Clough's League and Cup winning side this lunchtime in Nottingham after eight seasons with Birmingham City.
  • Hillsborugh disaster

    The Hillsborough disaster occurred on 15 April 1989 at the 1988–89 FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, England.
    A crush resulted in the deaths of 96 people and injuries to 766 others as a result standing terraces were abolished and seated terraces were brought in. This encoureged families and elderly people to come to matches and enjoy the game
  • FA in Sky tv

    In 1992 Sky acquired the rights to broadcast live fixtures from the newly-formed Premier League in a deal worth £304 million. Channel 4 also began broadcasting live Italian Serie A football on its Football Italia show presented by James Richardson.
