  • 1790-The Treaty of New York

    In 1790, President George Washington convinced Creek Chief Alexander McGillivray to sign the Treaty of New York and in the early 1800's creek signed 2 more treaties(Fort Wilkinson-1802 and Washington-1805) .Alexander signed the treaties and gave up all of his people's land,then the white population increased by filling up the land.

  • 1793-Cotton gin

    Eli Whitney invents the cotton gin.This device named the South "land of cotton" it increased slavery numbers and profit in plantations.
  • 1794 and 1795-Yazoo land fraud

    4 companies bribed Georgia's legislature to pass a bill selling 35-50 million acres for $500,000(that pennies an acre)then resold for a higher profit.Senator James Jackson left U.S. Senate in order to help citizens and honest legislators gain Georgia"s land back.
  • 1801-University of Georgia

    New Georgia government and constitution had big plans for Georgia including UGA with the leadership of Abraham Baldwin, and when they built this University it helped Ga's academics grow.A new policy was created allowing banks,schools, and much more to be opened this helped increase the economic rate and help the populations academics grow.
  • 1805-Land lotteries

    After the Yazoo Land fraud the government ad to buy back all sold land and instead or reselling the land in market, they had land lotteries.The lotteries increased the population and all lotteries were opened to everyone,1805 through 1833 several land lotteries were held.
  • 1830-Indian Removal Act

    The indian Removal Act was passed by congress in 1830 with the support of President Andrew Jackson ,land west of mississippi river was set aside for natives.This act started the Trail of Tears from Georgia to Oklahoma and all native land was settled by the white population.
  • 1830-Spread of Religion

    In 1790's religion started to spread in 1830 Methodist established Wesleyan College for girls and Emory for boys, Baptists had founded Mercer College and many other school were started for religions.When religion started to spread, the population increased the reason for this is that religion was a get away for a lot of people.
  • 1831-Worcester V. Georgia

    The Cherokee Nation tried to sue the state of Georgia but Supreme Court said they have no power, so in 1832 missioners living with natives brought another lawsuit with them since they were U.S citizens.President Andrew Jackson did not agree with them protecting the land, so the Indian Removal Act was beginning inforced so the population could settle in Cherokee land.
  • 1833-Railroads

    The first railroad charted for georgia was in 1833 by 1840's through 1850's the railroads started to spread through out Georgia.With the spread or railroads in Ga it created cities along the rails , cities liked Marthasville(Atlanta) were created increase the population.
  • 1838-Dahlonega

    Dahlonega was know for gold ,most natives were kicked out so that gold could be savaged. The economy boosted because raw gold was used as currency and land was now populated by gold miners and filled with gold mines.
