On December 26th, 1933, American inventor Edward Armstrong developed the FM radio system. FM, which stands for Frequency Modulation, refers to "the means of encoding the audio signal on the carrier frequency." Basically, this allowed for better quality sound in radio systems and allowed for more broadcasting networks.
