    The University of South Africa, became the champion and innovator of distance learning when it reshaped its mission and focus(N/A, 2022)

  • University of House

    The University of House made distance learning history when it began offering the first televised college classes. The first public television station in the United States, referring to itself as the “The Channel That Changes You”, KUHT ran 13-5 hours of educational material each week. These courses would air in the evenings giving learners the chance to review the material after working all day. (ADMIN, 2019)

  • Development of the Personal Computer

    In the 1980's the personal computer and personal web were major inventions that revolutionized distant learning and the educational systems. (ADMIN, 2019)

  • University of Phoenix

    1989 the University of Phoenix became the first educational institution to launch a fully online bachelors and masters degrees (N/A, 2022)

  • Jones International University

    entrepreneurs Glen Jones and Bernard Luskin developed Jones International University. This became the first accredited and fully web-based university. (ADMIN, 2019)

  • Blackboard

    Blackboard Learning System announced 40,000 instructors were teaching 150,000 online courses to more than 6 million students, across 55 countries (ADMIN, 2019)

  • Online Classes

    2009 there were over 4.5 million students taking online classes, with a Master of Science in Business Administration (MBA) being the top degree offered in the United States. 83% of all U.S. institutions that offer online courses s expect an increase in online enrollment over the next decade (ADMIN, 2019)
