    The Newspaper

    Many versions of the newspaper have appeared before this time, but the most prevalent creation of this appeared in the 1600s. Johann Carollus invented what is known as the first newspaper in 1605 in Strasbourg, thanks to the invention of the printing press in the 1400s.
  • The Radio

    The Radio

    The first version of radio was invented in the 1901s by Guglielmo Marconi. He created the first transatlantic radio signal, and it is said that his invention "ended the isolation of ocean travel", and saved many lives thanks to the help of a new form of communication. He won the Nobel prize for his work in 1909. Many argue that Marconi was not the first inventor of the radio, it is generally agreed upon that the invention if rightfully his.

    The television was invented by Philo Taylor Farnsworth in 1927, at only 21 years old. His idea started off when he was in high school. He wanted to create a system that would be able to capture moving images that could be coded into radio waves, then transformed back onto the screen. His primitive version of the television is the direct ancestor to modern-day tv.

    The first car radio was invented by Paul Gavin in the year 1930. To prove the quality of his creation, he drove from Chicago to Atlantic City. The car radio gained popularity, and became mainstream in the late 1930's.

    The Computer

    The first computer was created by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckret. Marketed as the ENIAC, the computer was made at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering .

    The first prototype of the VCR (Video-Cassette-Recorder) was created by Dr. Norikazu Sawazaki in 1953. His invention was released to the public three years later in 1956.

    The Cassette Tape was invented in September of 1963 by the company Phillips, more specifically Lou Ottens and his team. Since the majority of music at this time was listened to through vinyl, this compact, portable device became very popular throughout the following years.

    The development of the Magnavox Odyssey, the worlds first video game console began in 1966. The creator, Ralph Baer, released the first prototype in 1968, and it was nicknamed 'The Brown Box'. The products success came later in the early 1970's.

    The first cell phone, invented by Dr. Martin Cooper, was created in 1973. His product, the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X blew up and became a household product in the late 70's-80's.

    The first digital camera, released by Kodak, was created by Steven Sasson in 1975. This prototype weighed nearly 4 kilograms, and captured black and white photos onto a casette tape.

    The Sony Walkman was created in July of 1979 by the companies co-founder, Masaru Ibuka. The invention later became an iconic staple for the 80's.

    The first Disposable Camera was released in 1986 by Fujifilm. The camera allowed people to take a set amount of photos, then dispose of the camera after getting the film developed.

    The Nintendo Game boy was created by Gunpei Yoko, in 1989 Japan. This product influenced other video game companies such as Sega and Atari to create handheld-video game consoles as well. This product is now a household name, and helped video games become as mainstream as they are today.

    The first Nokia was released in 1992, and was the first GSM phone. (Global System for Mobiles).

    DVDs were invented in 1997 by a few different companies working together. One of these, was Sony. The idea first came up in 1995, but was released to the public a few years later. The first DVD player was released in 1996 in Japan.

    Facebook was one of the first Social Media sites, and was created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerburg. This was among the beginning of social media, and is still one of the most used sites/apps today.

    The Apple iPad came out in 2010, 6 years after the release of the first iPhone. This was a big success, and was created by Steve Jobs at Apple.
  • Disney Plus

    Disney Plus

    Disney Plus, the popular streaming service came out in 2019. The platform allows people to watch and stream any media Disney owns. Disney Plus has now over passed Netflix in number of subscriptions.
