He was a slave who sued for his freedom after owners died. Court decided not to give him his freedom because they said he was not a citizen.North got mad with south.

Lincoln -Douglas Debates

Lincoln and Douglas debate slavery. Lincoln lost but bacame nationally famous.

Harpers Ferry

John Brown wanted to stir up a slave revolt in Virginia and end slavery. Brown became a hero in the cause of slavery.

Election of 1860

Voters voted based on which section of the country they lived in.Lincoln promised to stop slavery from spreading. Lincoln won election.

South shoots to the Norths fort. The war began.
