    In an attempt to seek a compromise and destroy a crisis between North and South. As part of the Compromise of 1850, the Fugitive Slave Act was amended. Also, California entered the Union as a free state. Finally, an act was passed settling a boundary dispute between Texas and New Mexico that also established a territorial government in New Mexico.

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act repealed the Missouri Compromise, allowing slavery in the territory north of the 36° 30´ latitude. Senator Stephen Douglas of Illinois, said the issue of slave would be decided by popular soverghty.(popular vote) This act added kansas and nebraska to the territory.

    The period of violence during the settling of the Kansas territory. In 1854 the Kansas-Nebraksa Act repealed the missouri comprimise and this made the people of missouri angry. Proslavery and free-state settlers flooded into Kansas to try to influence the decision of popular vote to change the desicion. Violence soon erupted as both parties strated fighting for control.

Lee and they had 45,000 troops and 11,000 casualties. the union was led by General George McClellan, they had 87,000troops and had approxamatlet 12,000 casualties. They each had their own advantages confederates advantage was location, and leadership. the unions advantage was numbers.

    The Empancipation Proclamation was the freeing of slaves. after this was written alot of black people joined the army and became soldiers. African americans were very hppy about this while some people were not.

However, African Americans were not allowed to serve as soldiers in the Union Army until January 1, 1863. It is significant because it was the first war with african americans that are able to fight.
