    1. She was betrothed to Arthur, Henry's brother at the age of 3

    4: Henry began to have a growing interest in one of Catherine's misteresses
    5. Catherine was divorced because of this mistress, Anne Boleyn

    She marries King Philip II but because she was 11 years older, he had little power on the throne. The English Parliament refused to crown him. Mary returned England to Roman Catholicism. Protestants were persecuted and 300 are burnt at the stake which led to Queen Mary being called Bloody Mary.

    The first Act of Supremacy granted King Henry VIII Royal Supremacy, whuch meant that he ruled the Church of England. It was made clear that the King was not granted the title. Henry abandoned Rome completely and asserted the independence of the Ecclesia Anglicana.

    5. However, reported affairs and flirtatious attitudes towards other men led to her execution

    He was only 10 years old when he took the throne. He was a was a devout Protestant and introduced a uniform Protestant service based on his Book of Common. A he became sickly, he made Princess Elizabeth his heir to ensure the Protestant religion remained in England.

    He had many illness during his life time. These included In suffereing from a bout of smallpox, recurring attacks of malaria and a badly injured leg in a jousting accident. Later in his life, all these illnesses caused insomania, diabetes, strokes and paranoia. The last 8 days of his life were spent laying in bed, too weak to move. He died later that month.

    This revived 10 acts that Queen Mary had reverted. It confirmed Elizabeth as Queen governor of the Church. It was important because many people thought that women could not rule the church. The Oath of Supremacy provided reason for taking public of church office to swear allegance to the monarch.

    Her first act upon the throne was to repeal the Catholic legislation introduced by Mary. During her reign, England prospered and she explored many new lands. She defeated the Spanish Armada and established England as a military power. She is refered to as the greatest of all England's King and Queens.

    At the age of 42, she began to be in great pain. This was because of uterine cancer. She dies during an influenza epidemic.

    In 1602, many of her close friends and family bean to get ill and die. She started to get very depressed. In march, she fell into a "settled and unremovable melancholy". She died later that month.
