The founder of the Old Kingdom, Djoser helped build the 1st pyramid. The pyramid is the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. The pyramid was built to protect Djoser’s body. The structure was completed after Djoser’s death by his official, Imhotep.

Hatshepsut is the most successful pharaoh of all of the Egyptian Empire. The 5th ruler of the 18th Dynasty, she took the throne after her husband's death. Their son would've taken it but he was 2 years old! She initiated many construction projects, including her temple, the Temple of Hatshepsut. She also established many foreign trade routes. All in all, her reign was a time of peace.

Thutmose III is the stepson of previous pharaoh Hatshepsut. His reign lasted 54 years and he died at the age of 56. His reign was a war filled time, earning him the nickname as " Napoleon of Egypt". He had many military feats. His most was at the Temple of Karnak, he moved it in to Turkey. He was buried in the Valley of Kings with other pharaohs.

Amenhotep III was the 9th pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. He was very artistic and his reign was remembered as one of artistic glory and prosperity. Ancient Egypt blossomed in trade relations with other countries. He is credited with the largest number of his own statues.

Akhenaten was an ancient pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty. Not many people liked him because he changed things. For example, he tried to change their religion to monotheism, the worship of one god. This one god was a solar deity like the sun god Ra. They hated Akhenaten so much that after he died they destroyed all of his statues. But his son, Tutankhamun, or king Tut, fixed his father's religion problems.

Also known as, King Tut, the most famous pharaoh of all time. He ascended to the throne at the age of 9 or 10. He fixed all of the problems that his father made. Though he died very young, his memory still lives on, Steve Martin even made a song about him on Saturday Night Live.

Ramesses II was the 3rd pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty. He ruled during the New Kingdom Period. He had a victorious military career. He conquered many enemies. Such as, the Hittites, the Syrians, and the Nubians. He died at the age of 90 and was buried in the Valley of Kings. Fun fact, Egyptian officials had to issue a passport for the deceased king.

Xerxes I is the son of Darius the Great. He was the 5th king of the Persian Achaemeinid Dynasty. Yes, he was not from Egypt, his father conquered Egypt and he became king. He attempted to invade Greece, but, I believe that he failed. Xerxes was assassinated by his own commander of the royal bodyguard forces.

Cleopatra VII was not a native Egyptian. She was the daughter of the Macedonian general Ptolemy I Soter. Her ascension to the throne was challenged by her own brother! But when she was 39 she committed suicide. She is one of the most famous pharaohs ever.
