This architecture and art work inside the catacombs is incredibly unique because it shows the religious culture. The different burials are also important because it showcases the hierarchical society from the different burials based off the status of the individual. It shows the increased amount of understanding in architecture during this period.

    They were created during the time of the Romans. They are brooches that were used for military campaigns. When opened, they reveals a Christian cross inside a leaf motive. These fibulas highlight the importance of Christianity and battle within the romans. They became popular in the early Middle Ages and are commenly found in barbarian grave sites. It is important in showing the hold on religion that the romans had and the styles in fashion during this time.

    This was created in Istanbul in 532-537 C.E. It is a church that shows the detailed architecture that was utilized when creating this wonder. Hagia Sophia is large in size and artistic ability. What I find exceptionally interesting about this building is that building is so expansive and umongst the large surfaces are such intricate details. It's incredibly unique and it shows the differences in culture.

    The earliest know reference to this tapestry is in 1077. It was created in France and commissioned by William the conqueror's half brother. This tapestry illustrates a tale of battle. It depicts the factors important to the medieval period. I find it interesting how detailed each part of the story is and how each one compliments eachother. The depiction of war also contributed to the ideal of feudalism.

    Pyxis of al-Mughira
    This was created in the lands of the Iberian Peninsula controlled by the Muslim state in 711-1492. This piece of art shows the intricate style of Islamic art. They were given to members of the royal family. I think it is interesting because they symbolize victory and power along with looping together animals and humans in one art form.
