Early Colonial Rebels

  • Sugar Act

    Taxed colonists on items needed making them have to pay. Even though the colonists were able to pay it, they were mad that they had too, making them rebel against them. They protested and some didn't buy British goods.
  • Stamp Act

    Printed Materials had to have a stamp on it, which meant you had to pay for the stamp. It was another way for the British to get money from the colonists. The Colonists did not like it and Rebelled against it too.
  • Quartering Act

    Because of the war, they made this act making colonists have to give up their homes to the soldiers for them to stay in, pay for their food, and care for them. The colonists hated this which led to another one of their frustrations.
  • British Troops

    Because of resistance from the colonists, the British troops came to the colonies to keep everyone in line and doing what they were supposed to do do and not anything they weren't.
  • No Taxation without Representation

    Samuel Adams made a saying that everyone agreed with and stood up for.
  • Daughters Of Liberty

    Woman got together and established Daughters Of Liberty. They participated in boycotts of British goods, they would weave and spin yarn to make fabric making them not depend on British goods as much anymore.
  • Boston Massacre

    The soldiers had been their for a few years and weren't treating everyone else very well, sot they got mad and started messing with them. Some boys were messing with a soldier and then a mob started coming, so more soldiers came. The colonists pushed and kind of cornered British soldiers making them fire into this crowd killing 5 colonists.
  • Non-consumption Agreement

    Protests organized by American colonists in 1774 in opposition to the Townshend Acts. Thousands joined the resistance by signing the non-consumption agreements. They said they would not eat, buy, or use anything imported from another country and would only use their own.
