1928Creation of the first federal women's prison in Alderson, West Virginia. It was known as the first federal reformatory for women.
1955Deinstitutionalization of the people that had mental health problems. Closing mental health hospitals and reducing state care for people with serious mental problems.
1963During 1963, in the United States Supreme Court defended that criminals had to have the right to have a lawyer.
1965In 1965, Johnsons created Law Enforcement Assistance providing programmes to improve state or local criminal activities.
