DNA history

  • Period: to

    Friedrich Miescher-(1870)

Friedrich miescher was a swiss physician and biologist. Miescher was the very first to complet and indentify nucleic acid.
  • Period: to

    Fredrick Griffith-(1928)

Fredrick Griffith, had one of the first experiments of suggesting that many types of bacteria's are capable of really transfering genetic informaton though a process of transformation. This experiment was called Griffith's experiment.
  • Period: to

    Oswald Avery jr.-(1944)

Oswald Avery was one of the first molecular biologists and a pioneer in immunochemistry. Avery was best known when he isolated DNA as the material of which genes and chromosomes are made of.
  • Period: to

    Erwin Chargaff-(1947)

Erwin was the first to help out with the double helix at the time, as he only found or discovered two rules that truly helped lead to the double helix and the structure of DNA.
  • Period: to

    Franklin & wilkins-(1950)

Maurise wilkins was a biologist during world war 2, and work for his countrys defense ministry to mostly improve radar screens. After hes work he moved to america, as he was recruited to work on the manhattan project-(the atomic bomb was created). Rosalind Franklin was best known for her major role in finding the structure of DNA, and another big one that still helps till this day her pioneering use of X-ray diffraction.
  • Period: to

    Hershey & Chase-(1952)

The hershey-chase experiment was a series of experiments conducted into one. Both biologist (Alfred Hershey, & Martha Chase) they both helped to confirm that DNA is a genetic material.
  • Period: to

    Watson & Crick-(1953)

James Watson was an american biologist that in genetics and zoologist. He's best known for his co-discoverers of the struture of DNA. His friend and helper was Francis Crick. Crick was a British molecular biologist. He was also a big help during the structure of DNA.
