Zheng He was a Chinese explorer who may have come to Australia in the 1400's. The Chinese sailed in fleets of ships called junks. There were usually headed to the Spice Islands to trade. Their ships may have sailed in the waters to the north of Australia. The Aboriginies told stories of people with golden skin.

Tasman could not find his way throught TORRES STRAIGHT to get to the east coast of AUSTRALIA. -
In the 1650's the Makassan's came to Austraila in small boats called praus.The small boat could only hold 30 crow.they came here to fish for sea cucmber. So they could sell it to the chinese. The Makassaaaan's traded clothes,tobacco,axes, knives, rice and gin with Indigenous Australians.

William Dampier was a pirtere and british explorer and a seaman. He sailed around the world three times .He explored the west cost of Austraila.
