  • Proclamation of Neutrality

    Issued by George Washington in 1793. The Proclamation of Neutrality was held with France and Great Britian. It states that America will not provide assistance in their conflist, but remain neutral, since George Washington was against forming alliances.
  • X,Y,Z Affair

    The X,Y,Z Affair happened in 1797 under the supervison of our second president John Adams. Adams sent a couple American diplomats to France in order to make an alliance. Three French low-key diplomats met the Americans and tried to bride the diplomats into paying 250,000 dollars in order to speak to the French Foreign Minister. The Americans saw this a abribery and were furious.
  • Convention of 1800

    After the dihlemma with the X,Y,Z Affair and Quasi War, an undeclared war between France and the United States, the Convention of 1800 was held declaring a treaty between the two waring nations. This was ynder John Adam's rule as president and is often claimed as his greatest accomplishment.
  • Louisana Purchase

    In 1803 president Jefferson purchsed a great deal of land from the French under the rule on Noplean. He purchased what is modern day Louisana for about fifteen million dollars.
  • Embargo Act

    Sponsered by Thomas Jeffferson, the Embargo Act was passed by Congress in 1807. All exports of the United States were cut off with Britain and France, made illegal to trade with other waring nations. This severly hurt the American Economy.
  • War of 1812

    In 1812, Britain began impressing the American soldiears and using them in ther own war against France. James Madison declared war. This began a war with the Brits and Warhawks. The war lasted until 1814 and it secured American's freedom and place in the world. In one on the Brits attacks, they marched to the whitehouse and even burned it down. The War of 1812 inspired Frances Sott Key to write the Star Spangled Banner.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    After the War of 1812, James Monroe was elected presdent and a new era of good feeling came in the 1820s. The Monroe Doctrine declared two major things; America will not tolerate European interventions regarding any kind of independence and that American is not open for colonization.
