    The king signs Magna Carta a treaty which gives some power to the nobles. Meaning the King is no longer in charge.

    King Edward the 1st adopts the idea of model parliament. Meaning that you would have to be elected to become a representative, as well as you could be a peasant.

    Charles the 1st tried to arrest four MPs, which sparked a war between the royals and the parliamentry. Which ended up with Charles being beheaded and England becoming a Commonwealth. Then in 1660, England restored its monarchy.

    Habeas Corpus Act is passed which allows an individual to challenge their imprisionment.

    The Bill of Rights is passed meaning the parties are born.

    A secret Ballot was held in Tasmania which had ballot papers that were printed at public expense. Those who were standing had their names printed on the papers.

    Australia drecidede to federate and become a nation, this meant that the British colonies were no longer British or colonies. Now they would all share a government.
