Decision making

  • Individual decisions

There are many situations where making a decision by yourself is beneficial. It saves a lot of energy and takes way less time than if others are involved. They're good because the person I held responsible for their actions and are likely to make the better decision than the riskier one.
  • Teen brain developement

We think that we are old enough to make all of our own decisions because we make most of them. But reseachers found that the adult brain has more activity in the frontal lobe ( controls right-wrong, behavior, emotions and impulses) so this gives them more of an "advantage". Teens can make poor decisions because of emotional feelings or relationships. [ex: getting into a drunk friends car- BAD IDEA]
  • Collaborative decisions

For teens, the group decisions are the way to go. We have more input in them and therefore can make the best decision. Different approaches means better outcomes. Apparently teens brains aren't developed enough to think a decision all of the way through, so talking with people helps you.
